Hurricane Helene Resilience Funding

The Georgia Environmental Finance Authority (GEFA) is eligible to apply to the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) for funds to address the impacts of Hurricane Helene and promote resilience in drinking water and wastewater facilities in Georgia, including decentralized wastewater facilities.

GEFA intends to apply to EPA by early 2026 for the following allocated funding amounts:

  • Clean Water State Revolving Fund (CWSRF) – $124,892,000
  • Drinking Water State Revolving Fund (DWSRF) – $359,487,000
  • Decentralized Wastewater – $8,956,000

The call for projects for the Hurricane Helene Resilience Funding will launch Wednesday, October 1, 2025, and conclude Wednesday, December 31, 2025. During the call for projects, eligible participants should submit preliminary details concerning projects they would like to receive funding under the program.

For a project to be eligible for Helene resilience funding through GEFA, it must be SRF eligible and serve one of the following purposes:

  • Reduce flood or fire damage risk and vulnerability at drinking water and wastewater facilities, or
  • Enhance resiliency to rapid hydrologic changes or natural disasters at drinking water and wastewater treatment facilities.

GEFA will host an informational webinar on  Monday, October 6, 2025, to assist interested applicants to better understand eligible projects and pre-application requirements. See resources section below for webinar registration information.
