Georgia communities awarded $21.2 million in loan and grant funding for lead service line inventory and replacement projects
Through the Drinking Water State Revolving Fund (DWSRF), the Georgia Environmental Finance Authority (GEFA) awarded $21,241,804 in loan and grant funding to 95 communities throughout the state for lead service line inventory and replacement projects.
The Bipartisan Infrastructure Law (BIL) allocated DWSRF funding to help water systems complete lead service line inventory projects and lead service line replacement projects. All water systems are required to submit a completed lead service line inventory to the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) by October 16, 2024.
BIL investment in the water sector includes $50 billion to the EPA to strengthen the nation’s drinking water and wastewater systems.
A list of the communities receiving loan and grant funding for lead service line inventory and replacement projects is attached.
