ATLANTA – June 17, 2025. Donalsonville, Georgia, was awarded a $3,717,500 Drinking Water State Revolving Fund (DWSRF) loan by the Georgia Environmental Finance Authority (GEFA) executive committee.

The loan will finance the installation of water main and the construction of a new well, chemical feed building, and elevated storage tank. This project will balance the city’s water system with adequate pressure for residents.

The city will pay 2.89% interest on the 20-year loan. The loan qualifies for a reduced interest rate due to GEFA’s affordability criteria. The city is eligible for principal forgiveness up to $1,859,000.

The DWSRF provides low-interest loans for infrastructure projects that deliver safe, affordable drinking water. These projects conserve and improve water resources and facilitate economic development. The program is jointly funded by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency and the state of Georgia.
