Three communities awarded $12.4 million in grant funding for sewer system infrastructure
Through the Septic-to-Sewer Program, the Georgia Environmental Finance Authority (GEFA) awarded $12,400,000 in grant funding to three communities to help construct sewer systems to enhance public health and prevent groundwater contamination.
The Septic-to-Sewer Program provides grant funds for the provision of sewer in jurisdictions with no public sewer service. The grants can be used to construct sewer infrastructure in unsewered areas, provide gap funding to help communities complete a planned sewer project, and educate residents on their role in protecting the new infrastructure.
The following communities will receive Septic-to-Sewer Program grants:
- City of Luthersville awarded $4,400,000
- City of McIntyre awarded $5,000,000
- City of Sky Valley awarded $3,000,000
