GEFA COVID-19 Update
Due to the COVID-19 virus, GEFA staff are working remotely—with minimal staff in the office—to ensure our programs continue operating smoothly.
Public employees working for GEFA enjoy a wealth of benefits for their service, including:
Annual Leave: Accrual of annual leave is based on years of continuous service and is earned as follows:
10 hours per month for up to 5 years of service
12 hours per month for 5-10 years of service
14 hours per month for 10+ years of service
Sick Leave: Accrual is at the rate of 10 hours per month regardless of years of service.
Holidays: Employees enjoy 12 paid holidays per year.
Insurance: Employees have the opportunity to participate in a variety of insurance options, including health (Georgia Department of Community Health), dental, vision, legal, disability, and healthcare and childcare spending accounts (Department of Administrative Services – Human Resources Administration).
Retirement Plan: Employees participate in the Employees’ Retirement System. Contributions are based on a percentage of the employee's salary.
Deferred Compensation: Tax sheltered plans provide employees the opportunity to save for retirement. Fund programs include both 457 and 401(k) plans.
Credit Union: Employees are eligible to become members of the Georgia United Credit Union.
College Savings Plan: Employees are eligible to participate; however, GEFA nor State Personnel Administration administer the College Savings Plan. Employees can contact Georgia Higher Education Savings Plan directly to enroll.
