Georgia EPD's Construction Management Unit Now Managed by GEFA
GEFA Executive Director Kevin Clark and Georgia Environmental Protection Division (EPD) Director Judson Turner announced today that the EPD Construction Management Unit (CMU) will move to GEFA beginning Monday, February 3, 2014. Historically, CMU has worked closely with financial managers at GEFA so this transfer will provide for streamlining and increased efficiency of operations.
CMU provides engineering review and construction project management services that safeguard the integrity of GEFA's loan programs, ensure environmental objectives are met and maintained, and protect public trust and taxpayer funds. The projects managed by CMU include reservoirs, wells, water and wastewater treatment facilities, water distribution and wastewater transport facilities, energy recovery, watershed and stream restoration and solid waste facilities. The unit's responsibilities include project and construction monitoring and management, loan contract exhibits and amendments, funding disbursements, record management and technical assistance.
"We are pleased to have the experience and expertise CMU brings at GEFA," said Clark. "CMUs engineers and administrators have years of experience in managing environmental projects, with several staff members that have worked with GEFA since it was created in 1985."
"EPD has an ongoing positive working relationship with GEFA," said Turner. "I look forward to continuing our partnership on these important projects."
CMU will be part of GEFA's Water Resources Division, which supports the development of water, sewer and solid waste infrastructure projects.
