The Governor’s Water Supply Program (GWSP) assists local governments with developing new sources of water supply to meet future demand forecasts.
In January 2011, Gov. Nathan Deal directed GEFA to develop and launch the GWSP. The program helps local governments secure water supply resources and tackle the state’s key water supply challenges. The GWSP encompassed $200 million of low-interest loan funding through GEFA, and $100 million in state direct investment (SDI) funding through the Georgia Department of Community Affairs. The SDI feature presents a unique opportunity for the state to capitalize on water supply projects that address water challenges of broader significance to the state.
